If we agree that there is more to life than earning, consuming and hoarding, then how much potential does each of us possess? If we choose to live a life that embraces generosity and that uses time in a God-pleasing way, what good could come of it?
Yet, God continually shows extravagant love – often using the very people He has created to do the same. We are, ‘God’s hands and feet’. We are designed to serve the hurting and the fragmented, to alleviate suffering, to show anger at unjust systems and to bring peace and healing. We each have a role to play in God’s bigger picture. And we are not called to this task on our own. Taking time to care is a joint act, a community mission, something that draws us closer to others, not deeper into isolation.
